Registration Policies

Confirmation Letter 

You will receive a confirmation letter via email once you are registered for the convention If you have not received a confirmation letter within three weeks of submitting your registration, please contact an NSH staff member at 443-535-4060. 

Email Address

NSH requires a unique email address per registration. This email is used for communications between NSH staff and the registered attendee including the confirmation, workshop cancellations or changes, vendor announcements etc. NSH will not register multiple people with one email address nor will NSH register an individual without an email address. 


Attendees registering in advance may pick up their badge & welcome packet at the NSH Registration Desk. Attendees will not be allowed to pick up other attendee badges or materials. Badge sharing, splitting are strictly prohibited. Badge/ticket reprints will incur a $25.00 fee – no exceptions.

Consent for Use of Photographic Images 

Registration and attendance at, or participation in, NSH meetings and other activities constitutes an agreement by the registrant to permit NSH's use and distribution (both now and in the future) of the registrant or attendee's image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions, audiotapes of such events and activities. 


Cancellations of Entire Registration: All cancellations must be received in writing (email is acceptable) by September 14, 2020. Registrants who submit their cancellations in writing by this date will receive a refund minus a $75.00 administrative fee. Tickets to the Boxed Lunch Roundtable, guest passes and exhibit hall only passes are nonrefundable. Cancellations received after September 14, 2020, (without provisions for a substitute) and no-shows are responsible for all convention fees. Cancellations will not be accepted by phone.

Cancellations of Individual Workshops: Cancellations for short courses or hands on trainings are eligible for a refund if received by October 1, 2020; cancellations must be in writing (email is acceptable). After this date session costs will not be refunded. NSH reserves the right to cancel a workshop, hands on training or short course due to circumstances beyond its control or for insufficient registration. Registrants for a canceled session will be notified immediately and allowed to substitute a session or obtain a full refund. The Society is not responsible for penalties incurred as a result of cancelled transportation or accommodations.

Reimbursements - No cash exchange or refunds are provided on-site. Reimbursements are processed after the conclusion of the convention and will be sent to the payer.

Please note: Cancellations, for any reason, will not be accepted for persons registering after the deadline of September 14, 2020. Substitutions will be accepted at any time, at no additional charge.

Impact of Coronavirus on the NSH Symposium/Convention

NSH continues to monitor the rapidly changing situation related to the spread of COVID-19. During the Symposium/Convention we commit to maintaining all appropriate sanitary, health, and safety measures that are developed and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and local authorities in Reno, NV.

As this is an evolving situation, NSH will continue to monitor its impact on our ability to hold the event. If circumstances change preventing NSH from holding the Symposium/Convention registrants will be notified immediately and provided information on options including virtual substitutes and the refunding of registration fees in full. NSH will not be responsible for any cancellation fees incurred from cancelled or rebooked air or other travel, or hotels or other lodging.

Special Offers/Discount Codes

Use of discount codes is only valid at the time of initial purchase/registration. Refunds will not be authorized for existing registrations where the special offer was received after the initial purchase. Discount codes cannot be applied to already reduced/discounted registrations. Limit one (1) special offer/discount code per registration.


Payment in full is due with your registration. Attendees with a balance due will not be permitted to check in or attend the Convention.

Registrants can pay by:

1. Check made payable to the National Society for Histotechnology (Canadian and Foreign checks must be paid in U.S. Funds drawn on a U.S. Bank.)

2. Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover)

3. Fully Executed Purchase Order – a copy of the purchase order must accompany your registration and include billing information. Registrations made via Purchase Order must be paid in full prior to the start of the Convention, October 1, 2020

4. Money Order

Schedule Changes

Program and speakers are subject to change. Efforts will be made to notify participants in the event of cancellations and/or schedule changes. NSH will not be responsible for any costs incurred, including airfare (or penalties) and hotel, as a result of a cancellation, instructor, or date and time change.

Reasonable Accommodation Requests

If you wish to register for the Convention and you have an accommodation request or special need (physical limitations, dietary restrictions, etc.) please submit your request in writing to NSH Director of Meetings & Education, Aubrey Wanner, or via fax, 443-535-4055. Requests for special assistance must be received a minimum of 30 days prior to the start of the meeting.

Continuing Education Credits (CEUs)

All NSH sponsored educational sessions have been approved for NSH CEUs and count toward the ASCP's Certificate Maintenance Program, PACE, and Florida's CE Broker.

CEU Certificates
All attendees must turn in provided workshop tickets to receive credit for the sessions they attended. Once attendance records are reconciled contact hour certificates are made available through the NSH Contact Hour Portal for all attendees. Attendees will receive an email when the contact hours are available approximately 4-6 weeks after the convention.
